New Volvo Factory Diagnostic Computer
 

Atlantic Motorcar has recently purchased the latest computerized diagnostic tool for newer Volvos and fully trained our staff in the latest of Volvo technologies.

The Volvo DAS (Diagnostic Assistance System), communicates directly with the car's computerized systems through the diagnostic port.

The DAS unit is plugged into the car's On Board Diagnostic (OBD) connection, and transmits the data to a dedicated computer located at the technician's work station. The computer uses Volvo software to display the diagnostic information, beginning with the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). VIDA will show any faults that have been recorded in the car's computers so the technician may make the correct repairs instead of having to make an educated guess as to possible problems as in the past.

The DAS system can also communicate directly with the Tech Center via the Internet, which allows the technician to have the top Volvo diagnostic experts just a few keystrokes away. If newer software is available for the car's computers, that can also be downloaded and installed in the onboard computers.

This diagnostic system works on all Volvos from 1999-on, and will continue to be used on future models. Atlantic Motorcar is one of the first independent Volvo service facilities in the U.S. to have the DAS system.

This diagnostic service is an investment on behalf of Atlantic Motorcar, including a yearly subscription fee, but we believe that it will be a great benefit to our local Volvo customers. Indeed, servicing a Volvo without this computer is quickly becoming impossible.

Now, instead of having to drive to Portland for certain in-depth service, it can be performed here at Atlantic Motorcar. That will save our customers a considerable amount of money in travel, waiting time, and shop expenses. The difference can easily be a saving of hundreds of dollars to our customers on just one visit.
